We had a dog once, named Blue.
Half breed of Wolf and Husky.
Liked to fight, run, and pull.
All four kids on the slay, no problem.
Once started his claws would scrape,
Snow and ice up in short white bursts.
Then catch.
Girl Running from a Doberman,
Blue saw.
Broke chain leaped over fence,
Landed with bloody neck in jaws.
Girl’s family gave him a doghouse.
Blue it said in shiny silver letters.
Could see them two blocks away,
If you wanted to.
One day a hippy left the door open.
Stoned, he let Blue run pass,
Tried to get up, I was not allowed.
You're sick!
Blue never came back.
So I am, in tribute.
